We made a wonderful trip from South Haven, MI to Michigan City, IN.  Never encountered a wave more than 2’, most were dead calm to 1’.  The sun was out & although it was about 45 degrees when we started @ 7:30 when it finally got light enough to see, it warmed to high 70’s by mid=day,  Washington Park Municipal Marina @ Michigan City, IN is not the best we have seen but the biggest bay far, accommodating 460 boats plus dinghies, jetboats etc.  On the other hand the city is less than we expected.  All the towns of Michigan were very nice with shopping very near the waterfront.  This town has poor neighborhoods near the marina & no shops anywhere within 2 miles.

We were going to enter the Illinois River tomorrow & backtrack to Chicago by car or train then we were told of a marina in downtown Chicago that had slips but found out they charged $2.55/ft 3 years ago plus $22 for electric.  When we arrived at this marina we found they charge about a dollar per foot with no extra charges & the train is under a mile away that takes you right to where we want to go in downtown Chicago.  We’re staying here at least 2 nights & visiting Chicago tomorrow.  It should be a fun day if our feet hold up.  Bev has never seen Chicago & it has been 25 years since I last saw it.  Stay tuned for our Chicago episode & maybe I can get Bev to remember the camera.
