 These are pilings barges tie to normally.  Look at the water line & consider this is normal water levels.  Would you say the river is low now?

A poor scenery day.   A lot of barge and tug traffic that we had to go around or that was coming from the other direction.  We wanted to get through the Dresden Lock before we quit for the day, but when we got there they told us they were closing for repairs once they put the north bound barge through.  It was going to take them 2 to 3 house to do repairs.  So I called Harborside Marine, IL.  Nice restaurant on sight, so I made Em take me to dinner.  Getting up early tomorrow trying to make some time.
