Had to wait for fog to lift again today departing Wolfe Is. @ 8:30 AM.  Wolfe Is. was not a great anchorage.  The strong current & wind kept us swinging on the hook all night “A LOT”.  The anchor held fine but we were glad to exit in the morning.  The water temp is up to 68 degrees now, nice for swimming but the darn air never gets above 62 & then only for 1 – 2 hours in the afternoon otherwise it’s in the mid 50’s.  It was a long slow grind up to Pickwick Lock sometimes as slow as 3.8 knots & never above 5.0.  The 14 miles took about 3 ½ hours but we got lucky.  The lock was free so we only had to wait 20 min. for it to be emptied & in we went. We cruised Pickwick Lake @ 6.8 knots then into the Tenn Tom & up to 7.2 knots – who hoo!  Met 4 barges today between the Tenn River & the Tenn Tom.  Beautiful homes on Pickwick Lake especially as entered the Tenn Tom.  There is a 25 mile cut with no place to stop at mile 443.7.  The Tenn Tom started @ mile 450.7 & the first anchorage is at mile 417 @ Jackson’s Camp.  It being about 1:30 when we reached the cut we decided to go for it.  We arrived at mile 417 just @ dark.  Very scary, we didn’t realize the time change would affect us that much.  We traveled 56 statute miles today, 14 @ about 5 mph & the rest @ 8 – 9 mph.  Not bad with such a late start.
