Tuesday, Jan 14th Bev had her stitches removed & it only took 3 hours.  Roger & Cindy Lavallee have been great hosts.  We used their car to get to the clinic & bought some groceries for a party onboard Quimby Wednesday night.  Denver & Doris Savage arrived Tuesday night & Gary & Jane (friends of Roger & Cindy) and Joe & Arlene Reed arrived Wednesday.  Roger & I enjoyed a walk to the local smoked fish store to buy some evening snacks with a return walk along the beach.  The land & sea party came off great with 10 of us aboard for cocktails & hord’oeuvre.  It was a fun night until bedtime.

WHAT A NIGHT!  The wind howled out of the north starting about 11:00 PM & didn’t stop until about 5:00AM. It blew about 30 MPH scaring the daylights out of us with other boats in close proximity to our anchored Quimby.  This was the worst night aboard since that harrowing night in the North Channel the day before returning to the U.S. @ De Tour, MI.

Thursday, 1/16/14 the wind was too strong for comfortable cruising.  We had hoped to offer the crew a ride on the GICW but it was just to rough.  Roger gave us a tour around Englewood swinging by one of Jesse’s old homes & the mansions on Manisota Key.  Denver made a scrumptious fish chowder for supper that toped the day off perfectly.  It has been great fun for Bev & I to spend some days sharing our adventure with friends from home.

Friday, 1/17/14 Bev & I spend over an hour hauling our aft anchor.  What a job hauling it out of the clay & sand bottom but it was OK since it held in that blow 2 nights ago.  We waved good by to Roger, Cindy, Denver & Doris & departed only to wave good by again a couple miles down the GICW.  They had seen us by the bridge leading to Manisota Key as they were going to a local drinking hole they claimed to have breakfast.  It was then 10:30 AM so YOU DECIDE.  We made it 40 miles to St. James City on Pine Island across from Cape Coral & the entrance to the Caloosahatchee River leading to Ft. Meyers & the Okeechobee Canal.  We have a slip & Legacy Marine tomorrow so hope to upload the pix & catch up on the blog.

Saturday& Sunday, 1/18/14 – 1/19/14  We arrived @ Legacy Marine @ noon after a very slow trip from the mooring sometimes only traveling @ 3.7 kn.  We immediately met up with Brent & Susan of “Once Upon  A Time” & Arch of KaJen.  We walked the town, snacked & went out for supper en mass.  Sunday we met up with Fred Kelley then watched the Pats game much to our discust.  Fred is coming by @ 10:00 AM tomorrow to show us the area.
