April 12th –  We were both sick last night, Bev with hip area discomfort & Em with severe hip & stomach cramps & aches up to the shoulders & arms. Thankfully the problem was all but gone come morning. We were off in the courtesy car for groceries this morning & a carriage ride this PM followed by an ice cream, nap & supper with Tony & Sharon.

April 13th – We need to get past mile 515 from mile 535 @ Beaufort, SC before low tide @ 2:10 PM, high tide being @ 7:45 AM. It is 20 miles to the far end of the risky area and will take about 2 ½ hours to get there so the earlier we leave Beaufort, SC the better. We remembered this PM we had not run the gyro since it was installed Feb 15th so we started it up this PM & it steadied Quimby fine at the dock. Off the dock @ 7:00 AM, reached to shallows @ 9:00 AM & out of it @ 10:00 AM with no worry – almost. Anchored @ mile 487 about 20 miles south of Charleston @ 1:00 PM with “Summer Recess”. Had a very restful afternoon, delicious chicken supper & relaxed. We needed it, it’s been a hard life lately.

April 14th – Headed for Charleston @ 8:20 AM & arrived 3 hours later docking at Charleston Harbor Marina right next to the Yorktown aircraft carrier. It seems so strange as we had toured the carrier many years ago when Fred Kelley & Chelly were stationed here. After a pump-out we headed for town on the free trolley & spent the afternoon walking the streets & playing tourist with thousands of others who’s kids are on school vacation. The next 2 days are forecast to be nasty with heavy rain & winds 25 MPH gusting to 40 & Wednesday winds in the mid to high 20’s so we are planning to sit right here & nay have to try out the gyro as well.
